Revealed: Barack Obama Proposed To Sheila Jager Before Michelle New Book Claims

Barack Obama

Barack Obama proposed to a different woman – twice – before he met  Michelle and kept on seeing her for the first year of his relationship with FLOTUS.

The woman is said to be Sheila Miyoshi Jager who is of Dutch and Japanese descent.

The author of the new book, “Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama,” David Garrow, says Obama met Jager in the mid-’80s when he was doing community organizing in Chicago.

The couple were very much in love in the mid 1980s when they were living together in Chicago, according to Jager, who described them as being ‘an island unto ourselves.’

Obama asked her to marry him, but her parents were opposed because they thought she was too young to get married, so she turned him down, but they continued dating.

They remained together, but it was about this time that Jager began to realize her then-boyfriend’s ‘deep-seated need to be loved and admired.’

Then, Garrow says, Obama’s presidential ambitions became a centerpiece of their relationship, which caused a conflict between them because he worried that marrying a non-African-American wife would do him political damage.

Garrow says he “felt trapped between the woman he loved and the destiny he knew was his.”

By the time he was leaving for Harvard Law School, their relationship was on the rocks but he was not ready to let her go and proposed to her for a second time, again Jager turned him down.

Obama then met and started dating Michelle after their first year in law school but, according to Garrow, he was still occasionally seeing Jager. But when he solidified his relationship with Michelle, he stopped seeing Jager.

As for Jager, she’s a professor of East Asian Studies at Oberlin College and there’s this fun fact: Her book, “Iraqi Security Forces and Lessons from Korea” was on Osama bin Laden’s bookshelf in the compound where Seal Team Six killed him.
