Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been slapped with a three-match ban by the Football Association following his controversial elbow on Tyrone Mings.
The FA confirmed the sanction on Tuesday after Ibrahimovic admitted to the charge of violent conduct.
The suspension means Ibrahimovic will sit out Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final with Chelsea as well as the showdowns against middlesbrough and West Brom in the Premier League.
Ibrahimovic landed an elbow on Mings as they jumped together in the Cherries’ penalty area after the defender appeared to stamp on his head.
However, the Swedish international is expected to start the Europa League last-16 first-leg tie with Rostov.
Ibrahimovic, who is United’s leading scorer this season with 26 goals will return in the Premier League against Everton on 4 April.
