A bloody clash between Wanikade and Wanihem communities, both of Ukele north in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State has claimed the lives of 150 people, while 14,000 persons have been rendered homeless.
Mr. Inaku, told newsmen on phone on Monday lamented that over 14, 000 people had been displaced and one thousand two hundred and thirty three (1, 233) houses destroyed.
“Yes, over one hundred and fifty (150) people have been killed, the situation is terrible, we wonder how human beings could be so hardened that they murdered their fellow human beings in such a way; it’s sad.”
The clash is said to have erupted as a result of land dispute between the two communities.
Several attempts by the state government and other stakeholders to quell the situation were reportedly unsuccessful, thus leading to the increase in the destruction and loss of lives.
The four IDPs camps have been established in Oju LGA by Benue State government.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Igbo told newsmen that more security operatives had been deployed to the area
