Former Nigeria player and coach Paul Hamilton has been confirmed dead, months after battling a long illness.
Hamilton, who also coached the Super Falcons died at the military hospital on Thursday, March 30th.
Hamilton, who was fondly called ‘Wonderboy’ during his playing days played for the senior national team from the 1960s to 70s featuring at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City.
He was the first coach to lead the Super Falcons to their first ever Fifa Women’s World Cup in 1991 in China and he also coached the Flying Eagles to a third place finish at the 1985 Fifa U20 World Cup in USSR and also handled the Super Eagles in 1989.
The former coach had battled several ailments which led to the amputation of his leg earlier this year at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
