Following a number of questionable Premier League decisions during the festive period, Refree Mike dean has been demoted to the English Championship.
The 48-year-old, who has been officiating in the English top flight for more than a decade, received criticism for some decisions during the Merseyside Derby and Manchester United’s win at West Ham.
Although, he has since taken charge of an FA Cup fixture between Tottenham and Aston Villa, and Stoke City’s victory over Sunderland, he will not be on duty in the Premier League this weekend, Instead he will officiate the Yokshire Derby between Leeds United and Barnsley.
Leeds are currently third in the Championship table, seven points behind leaders Newcastle, while Barnsley are in 10th position .
This will be Mike Dean’s second Championship match of the season, the other being Birmingham City’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa in October, a game in which he dished out five yellow cards.
