Imo State Bank Robbery: Punch, Social Media Activists Launch GoFundMe Appeal For Hero Cop

A GoFundMe appeal has been set up to cater for the family of the slain policeman, Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko.

The cop misplaced his life after confronting a four-man gang in a gun battle, which was captured on CCTV.

In the two.58 minutes video, the Police Officer could possibly be seen firing on the robbers earlier than working out of a safety submit.

“This fund is set up to help the widow and six children of Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko, a brave Nigerian policeman who fought valiantly against a gang of armed robbers which invaded a bank in Owerri, South East Nigeria in February 2017,” a brief introduction on the crowdfunding social media network read.

The appeal fund targets raising the sum of $15,000 for the deceased’s family.

“Your donations will be used to pay off his family’s accumulated rent, school fees and other expenses,” read another part of the introduction.

Punch who exclusively covered the incident, interviewed Iboko’s widow, Rose, and she revealed that the children have since dropped out of school over her inability to pay their school fees

She also admitted that their house rent is due, proving beyond doubt that the funds being raised would come in handy.

May the soul of the deceased continue to rest in peace.
