9ice has changed tune years after his song Street Credibility in which he promised to bring the prestigious Grammy Award home.
The music veteran told Ebuka that he was talking to himself and declaring good things in his life when he said he will bring home Grammy.
And in a recent interview after he failed to cop the award, he told PUNCH that he still looks forward to making Nigeria proud.
“I am still working on bringing the Grammy to Nigeria. Abraham Lincoln tried several times before he became the president of the US while Buhari tried about four times before he became president. As long as I am still doing music, I can still get the Grammy,” 9ice said.
But the rapper has now changed tunes. Speaking with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Rubbin Mindsyesterday, the rapper clarified that he never promised anyone the award but himself.
“I didn’t promise you; I am promising myself what I want for my life. I am talking about my story. I [was] saying it to myself. I was speaking out loud. It is good that you asked; I am still holding on to it. Man propose, God dispose,” he told Obi-Uchendu.
“I am not gonna rush or run because people ask me ‘wey Grammy?’ I will run my race at my own pace,” said the rapper.
He also clarified certain terms used in his latest hit “Living things” which cause controversies on the internet.
He added that rapper Falz was not referring to him when he said some artistes were praising scammers and fraudsters.
He also revealed that his album “Greatest of All Time” will be released in September.
