Katherine Berman, the wife of the veteran ESPN sportscaster Chris Berman, was killed in a car accident in Connecticut on Tuesday.
Late Katherine Ann Berman was 67 at the time of her death and was one of two victims in the two-vehicle crash at about 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday in Woodbury
The other victim was 87-year-old Edward Bertulis, of Waterbury.
He is now dealing with the loss of his wife of 34 years on the same day as his birthday, with the popular television personality turning 62 on Wednesday.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Ms. Berman was wearing a shoulder and lap belt, the report said. Mr. Bertulis was not. Airbags deployed in both vehicles.
Katherine also leaves behind her two adult children with Chris, daughter Meredith and son Doug.
“This is a devastating tragedy and difficult to comprehend. Chris is beloved by all his ESPN colleagues and for good reason: He has a huge heart and has given so much to so many over the years. We know how much his family means to him and all we can do at a moment like this is give him the love and support he will surely need at this hour.
