An astute politician, Dr Saraki died at the age of 79, in his Ikoyi
resident at the early hours of today (Wednesday) 14th of Nov 2012.
According to a statement by his son, Mr Laolu Saraki, the late
Octogenarian died peacefully in the hands of his wife, daughter,
Gbemisola Saraki and Laolu.
Saraki in his life time was a political icon, philanthropist and a
respected opinion moulder dominated the political landscape of
A medical doctor and a Second Republic Senator, Dr Saraki, a
devout muslim, played a prominent role in the Third Republic
politics through the formation of the APP now ANPP and later
helped to strengthen the political structure of the People’s
Democratic party, PDP in Kwara State.
Prior to the 2011 general elections, he formed the Allied
Congress of Nigeria Party ( ACNP ).
In the statement, Laolu said burial arrangement has commenced.
