A Colombian woman who had a bitter fight with her husband angrily swallowed $7000 in an attempt to keep the money away from his sight.
The 30-year-old woman swallowed rolls of 100-dollar bills. She told the local RCN television channel she had saved up the money for a holiday with her husband after having sold several electrical household items.
Luckily for her, doctors at the University Hospital of Santander in Colombia were able to extract the bills through surgery, after she swallowed them in rolls of $100 bills.
Director of Surgery at the University Hospital of Santander, Juan Paulo Serrano, said the majority of the bills were surgically extracted from the stomach, while additional rolls would be passed through the colon.
He said the rolls were not wrapped or packaged, which suggests they were not part of any illegal transport and simply swallowed in an ‘act of desperation.’
