Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Martins Jackson are due for court appearance at the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, for allegedly forcing a black man, Victor Rethabile Mlotshwa, into a coffin in South Africa, in a video that went viral.
The accused were seen in the 20 seconds clip, forcing the victim into a coffin and threatening to duck him in petrol. The other man who was filming the incident was also speaking in Afrikaans, telling his second to put a snake into the coffin as well.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said its leadership will attend the court case of the two. The party said, in statement, that the duo “took a video and put it up on social media for amusement after humiliating” their victim.
“This humiliation can be based on nothing else but his blackness‚ which means it is in actual fact a humiliation of black people as a whole‚” the statement added. “The incident took place at JM De Beer Boerdery. They have been charged with kidnapping and assault with intent of grievous bodily harm.
